Journées du Patrimoine, Sur l’itinéraire des oiseaux migrateurs à la Pointe de l’Aiguillon

A daily count every autumn
A key stopover for many passerines during their autumn migration, the Pointe de l’Aiguillon is a prime spot for birdwatching in the Vendée.
Since 1993, volunteers from the LPO Vendée have been meeting there every day to count the birds passing through the Pointe.
This count takes place every morning, from 1 September to 30 November, from sunrise until midday.
To share this experience and discover this heritage (which we hope will endure, even though the bird populations being studied are not faring well), the volunteers who carry out this daily count invite the public to come and take a look through the telescope during Heritage Days.
What is an observation point?
During Heritage Days, the LPO Vendée team welcomes you to observation points – in this case based at the Pointe de l’Aiguillon – and provides optical equipment (notably spotting scopes) for you to observe the birds.
Come whenever you like and stay as long as you wish!
