Walking trail Les Prés Saint Jean n°2

When the sea reigned over the Marais Poitevin, Triaize had 3 islands: the islands of the village, the Vigneau and the Dune. These would be the origin of the name TRIAIZE, derived from 3 Celtic words meaning "Place where a thing is in triplicate". In the Motteries meadows, you should be able to see donkeys grazing. Triaize is actually known for its donkey races, the local sport of the area. The first races date back from 1863, when the donkey represented "pur blood of the poor".
