On the Loire Valley Wine Routes, this 35 km wine tourism tour will take you to discover the lands of Mareuil and its Vendée Fiefs. Go by bike for 35 km of discovery, oenology and carpe diem!
Mareuil-sur-Lay-Dissais is the starting point of this wine tourism tour. Before you leave, stock up on provisions for a good picnic. At local shops, fall in love with rillons accompanied by a good baguette of fresh bread, and of course a Vendée brioche for dessert. Once the food is in your basket, climb on your bike and let's go!
On the small paths criss-crossing the vineyards, step down to taste a wine of the Fiefs Vendéens appellation in a wine-growing estate. This will be an opportunity to meet a winegrower and visit his cellar. Don't forget to bring one or more bottles of red, white or rosé Mareuil! During your stay at l'Eveillerie, you can pedal along the stone houses, which make up all the charm of this small Vendée village.
The trails will guide you to the Conservatoire de la Négrette. You can then explore old grape varieties and enjoy your well-deserved picnic, accompanied by a glass of Mareuil, in the area provided for this purpose.
Further north, the loop leads you to the Chaussée de Chavagnes, to stroll along the Yon, a tributary of the Lay, a Vendée river. Before returning to Mareuil, take advantage of the last estates to taste other wines.
