Observation post, Réserve Les Huttes

A natural area preserved and developed by the Vendée Department, this 146-hectare reserve is made up of a mosaic of natural environments typical of the Marais Poitevin. It is home to over 1,200 species of remarkable flora and fauna.

Description

In the Maison de la Réserve, discover an interactive space dedicated to the Marais des Huttes:
- Immerse yourself in the history of the Marais des Huttes to understand the mosaic of landscapes that surrounds you today.
- In the projection room, contemplate the site's biodiversity on a large screen.
- Observe the naturalist collections, bearing witness to the rich life of the reserve.

From the Maison de la Réserve, choose your discovery route:
- The hutter's trail (1km), punctuated by reading tables to help you understand the history of the site and the way of life of the hutters.
- The naturalist trail (3km), with two observatories, to discover the marsh's biodiversity: flowers, insects, mammals... Keep your eyes peeled! Binoculars available on loan.

A family visit!
-New exhibition on bats in April 2026: As you stroll along the paths, explore the surprising world of bats on 12 panels.
Get to know these species, their biology and the challenges they face in the wild. A story and anecdotes will guide you in your discovery of these amazing flying nocturnals.
An exhibition to read, contemplate, listen to and touch!

- Sowers of Biodiversity" treasure hunt.
Come and meet Sylvestre as a family, take up his nature challenges and become "sowers of biodiversity"!
A family treasure hunt for children aged 4 and over. Free, starting from the Maison de la Réserve.

- To the rescue of the otter", a fun, connected walk in the heart of the marsh: equipped with your own smartphone, follow the trail of a young otter through the maze of the marsh. Download the free Baludik application from the App Store or Google Play.

During the school holidays, themed nature outings are offered for those curious about nature... ask for the programme! Don't forget to book your events (places are limited).

Groups of children and adults must book in advance.

Access is difficult for people with reduced mobility and pushchairs.

The Reserve's paths remain very wet from November to the end of May. We strongly advise you to bring a pair of boots to use the site's paths during this period.
