CONSERVATOIRE DE LA NÉGRETTE

Conservatory of La Négrette

Description

Old vines are part of an important reservoir of diversity for the vines in our vineyards.
Unfortunately, these "resource" plots are disappearing and the genetic heritage of regional varieties is getting weaker.
It is on this basis that in 2010 the Syndicat des Fiefs Vendéens, in partnership with the Institut Français de la Vigne et du Vin Pôle Val de Loire-Centre (IFV), decided to create the Conservatoire de Négrette.

This area has been created to preserve this ancient grape variety from southwestern France.
Introduced to the region at the beginning of the 19th century, it is also called "Ragoutant".
Its bunches are small and the berries small to medium. This grape variety makes it possible to produce pleasant, highly aromatic wines with a violet fragrance. Generally not very tannic and not very acidic, their ability to age is limited and it is preferable to drink them young. Négrette also makes it possible to produce balanced rosé wines.
