Conférence, Les femmes pionnières de la photographie, par Pascale Lépinasse
Conference
Description
Within the European avant-garde of the inter-war period, photographic practices led, through experimentation with the medium, to new ways of seeing, knowing and representing the world. At the same time, women photographers became seasoned professionals: they organised exhibitions in salons and galleries, set up schools, ran studios and agencies, and wrote the history of photography. Pioneers such as Lee Miller, Dora Maar, Germaine Krull, Claude Cahun and Florence Henri ventured into creative areas previously reserved for men. All of them gave us an uncompromising view of themselves and of a society in the throes of change, through powerful, aesthetically pleasing images.
