ÉTANG DE SAINT-MARTIN

In the heart of a small picturesque village, a real green setting: the pond of Saint-Martin...

Description

The 2.4 hectare municipal swimming lake in Saint-Martin-Lars-en-Sainte-Hermine, created in 1973, draws the lines of a departmental property. In the hollow of a small valley, it is the jewel of the village. A path connects the village to its pond, while wooden footbridges cross the Theu stream. West side,
tree openings reveal the Château des Roches, and on the east side is the church classified as a historical monument and whose restoration required 10 years of work.

Dragonfly lovers will be able to observe the amazing colour of the blue orthétrum or the young agrion, which enchants many of the department's water points. The nightingale philomela accompanies walkers with its jumping flute song and the black-headed warbler zinzinulates at will, sometimes imitating one of his compatriots. It also finds around this small lake the reeds, ribbons and other false irises necessary for the construction of its very light nest of dry grass.

At the bend of a path, water feeds an old small washhouse made of beautiful cut stones.

Every year, in a festive atmosphere, the town of Saint-Martin and the village volunteers organize a fishing trip: a guaranteed rural atmosphere!
