Description

Afternoon in the Gardens
23 to 30 August - Afternoons in the Gardens
Every afternoon during the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie, the artists of Les Arts Florissants invite you to the idyllic setting of the Jardins de William Christie and the Quartier des Artistes for a unique experience combining the beauty of nature and the pleasures of music!

One ticket for a whole afternoon of music and discovery, every afternoon of the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie!

In addition to the tickets available when the Festival ticket office opens, 'fine weather' tickets will go on sale on the day of each event, as soon as the weather permits.

Guided tours of the Gardens 2.30 - 3.30 pm
Specialists and lovers of William Christie's Gardens invite you to discover this "remarkable garden" listed as a historic monument, on guided tours specially designed for the Festival. It's a way of capturing the spirit of a place as fascinating as it is eclectic, imagined from scratch by the conductor... and which promises new surprises every year.

Singing workshop: "L'Opéra français, quand les arts adoucissent les mœurs" 2.30 - 3.30 pm
Singer Leila Zlassi, a loyal member of the Arts Florissants choir, invites children, teenagers and adults to discover baroque music... by singing! Devoted this year to French opera, the workshop will focus on a curiosity found in many operas (including Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Les Arts florissants): the way in which, on stage, the arts can become the characters of the plot. Embark on a journey of 'art-legory'!

Dance discovery: "Promenade galante, dance, song and floral poetry" 2.30 pm - 3.30 pm
Dancer Pierre-François Dollé takes festival-goers on a stroll through the parks and gardens of the Quartier des Artistes, where they can discover curiosities from Baroque history while learning a few dance steps. This year, the spotlight will be on bucolic reverie, with a 'galante promenade' inspired by texts from Julie's Guirlande - a collection of poems on the theme of nature and flowers - and punctuated by dances evoking French gardens.

Conversations 23 and 24 August (2.30 pm - 3.30 pm)
Novelist and academician Erik Orsenna joins art historian Henry-Claude Cousseau for a conversation in which the two men of culture invite the public to follow the wanderings of their thoughts on the themes of music, art and, of course, gardens.

Concerts in the Gardens: the Musical Walks 4 pm - 6.30 pm
An emblematic feature of William Christie's Dans les Jardins Festival, these short concerts allow you to explore the different areas of the Gardens, while inviting you to discover musical repertoires or little-known pieces, selected by the performers themselves. Unforgettable experiences, in a unique proximity between audience and performers!

This year, Myriam Rignol, the world-renowned violinist and leading musician with Les Arts Florissants, will have carte blanche to present a programme of short concerts to round off the afternoons in the Gardens.
