JASON MIST

Originally from New Caledonia, Jason Mist is a singer-songwriter and slide guitarist. In his quest to modernise so-called ‘roots’ music, he offers a skilful blend of folk, blues, rock and reggae, sprinkled with Indian music and the sounds of his native island.
The result is a unique and original sound that transcends genres and reflects his own outlook: open to the world.
His instrument of choice is the Hawaiian slide guitar, known as the Weissenborn, which originated in Hawaii in the 1920s. It produces a fluid sound with almost mystical resonances.
Keen to both preserve this tradition and develop it further, Jason explores the limits of this instrument through his hybrid compositions, carried by his spellbinding voice.
