Annual reopening of William Christie's remarkable gardens at Thiré

Description

In the heart of the Vendée, a remarkable garden born from the imagination of William Christie.

In 1985, William Christie fell in love with an estate in Thiré, in the Vendée, and set about creating a garden from scratch. Since then, it's not just one garden, but a succession of spaces as remarkable as they are eclectic that he has imagined over the years, in an ongoing creative process.
Inspired by the art of gardening as it reached its apogee in France and Italy in the 17th and 18th centuries, William Christie's gardens also aim to showcase the beauty of the Vendée landscape, by bringing together numerous trees and plants that are unique to the region.

Now recognised as a 'remarkable garden' and listed as a Historic Monument, this exceptional 12-hectare site is at the heart of the Les Arts Florissants project.
