Museum André Deluol

Sculptures, paintings, drawings and pastels, former studio of the artist André Deluol. Beaches of the South Vendée and Coastal Retro.

Description

André Deluol, born in 1909 in Valence, in the Drôme, and who died in St Michel en L’Herm in 2003, was a distinguished sculptor, faithful to the French school (Maillol, Despiau, etc.). “With the advent of contemporary art, plastic beauty was neglected,” he observed. That is why his inspiration was the human body. “Why should we look for beauty elsewhere?” he liked to say. He therefore sculpted all its generosity and harmony. He produced works commissioned by both the state and the private sector. His sculptures can be admired in several towns and cities across France. With a sure hand, he carved his works directly from stone, marble or wood, and created statuettes in pâte de verre (Daum).

Visits are possible on request outside the scheduled opening times.

---
During periods of extreme heat, the André Deluol Museum may be closed in the afternoon (3 pm to 6 pm) to ensure the best possible visitor experience. We advise you to contact the South Vendée Tourist Office before your visit and, where possible, to plan your visit for the morning, between 10.00 and 12.00.
