Animation nature, Sortie à la réserve naturelle Michel Brosselin
Description
It's summer on the Reserve!
Like every year, the reserve is going through a period of gradual drying up of its wetlands.
This is beneficial for the environment.
Draining allows the silt to be mineralised and the soil to be aerated, thus preventing the proliferation of bacteria. This encourages the control of micro-organisms and limits algae and pathogenic organisms (cyanobacteria, etc.). It is an excellent way of combating certain diseases.
It also encourages the development of biodiversity, in particular marsh bulrush, which in spring is a nesting ground for black terns, black-tailed godwits and lapwings, as well as other species of anatidae (geese, swans and ducks), waders (redshanks, stilts and avocets) and other passerines.
Extremely rare plant species thrive on the wetlands, some of which are the only ones known in the Vendée.
Come and discover this very special moment in the life of the Reserve.
