The Bois de l'Epault dominates the Lay valley.

The Bois de l'Epault represents an area of 6 hectares. The paths, adorned with logs in the steepest passages, sometimes run alongside the streams and cross beautiful coniferous hedges and small holm oaks, which is rare in this region of the Vendée.

Large shaded alleys are bordered by chestnut groves. Protected by the cover and abundant vegetation in the most wooded area, the site is the refuge of many birds such as pigeons, woodcocks and nuthatches... In spring, the scents and colours mix, offering a show full of freshness with hyacinths, honeysuckle and asphodel...

In a most pleasant setting, Mareuil-sur-Lay-Dissais is located between Luçon and La Roche-sur-Yon. At the confluence of the Lay and Marillet rivers, it offers an ideal setting for fishing enthusiasts and hikers.
