BOIS DE L’ÉPAULT

1

The Bois de l'Epault dominates the Lay valley.

Description

The Bois de l'Epault covers an area of 6 hectares. The paths, embellished with logs on the steepest parts, sometimes run alongside streams and cross beautiful coniferous hedges and small holm oaks, which are rare in this part of the Vendée.

Large, shady paths are bordered by thickets of chestnut trees. Protected by the canopy and abundant vegetation in the most wooded area, the site is a haven for many birds, including pigeons, woodcock and nuthatches. In spring, the scents and colours blend together, offering a fresh spectacle of hyacinths, honeysuckle and asphodel...

Mareuil-sur-Lay-Dissais lies between Luçon and La Roche-sur-Yon, in a most pleasant setting. At the confluence of the Lay and Marillet rivers, it is an ideal spot for fishing enthusiasts and walkers.
