Conférence, Notre-Dame de Paris de 1163 à aujourd’hui
Conference
Description
A passionate enthusiast of art, history, architecture and religion, Bernard BRANGÉ, who studied art history at the École du Louvre, has worked as a tour guide for various organisations and was head of the guides at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris; he is currently responsible for their training.
Through the history of Notre-Dame, the construction of which was commissioned in 1163 by Maurice de Sully, Bishop of Paris, you will discover its various Christian and architectural symbols and encounter statues that illustrate the magnificent ‘Book of Stone’ so dear to Victor Hugo.
Following the tragic fire on 15 April 2019, he had a front-row view of the cathedral’s restoration work, which he followed on a day-to-day basis. He will bring to life the impressive restoration work that has recently been completed.
The author of numerous articles in specialist journals, he has written two books: *Histoire de Paris autour de Notre-Dame* (History of Paris around Notre-Dame), published in 2013, and *Rencontres avec le Compagnonnage du XXIᵉ siècle* (Encounters with the Compagnonnage of the 21st Century). He is a member of the ‘Société des Amis de Notre-Dame’ and ‘Restaurons Notre-Dame’.
