Théâtre, Bel Ami
Description
An adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s novel, brought to life by nine actors and actresses.
A dynamic production in which the characters, dressed in period costume, move through a contemporary industrial setting. In the late 1880s, in a Paris in the throes of the Industrial Revolution, journalism and politics become intertwined. Georges Duroy, nicknamed Bel-Ami, is a very handsome young man. The son of destitute peasants, struggling to rise above poverty, he is exploited by many people for their own ends. Four strong-willed women will mould him and help him in his quest for power. But on the path to his social rise, the once-manipulated Georges Duroy – now the manipulator Bel-Ami – proves capable of anything.
