Description
This concert revisits some of his greatest operas, reinterpreting them during a ‘tailor-made’ evening designed to recapture all the dynamism of the grand operatic productions by this cornerstone of Les Arts Florissants’ repertoire. Rameau stands out as a key figure of the French Baroque, but above all as one of the key architects of the musical aesthetic that shaped the Grand Siècle.
Blending dance suites and memorable scenes, this concert, conceived as an anthology, illustrates the composer’s extraordinary skill, ranging from the refined and jubilant spirit of opera-ballets such as *Les Fêtes d’Hébé* or *Les Paladins*, to the dramatic power of great operatic tragedies such as *Castor et Pollux* or *Les Boréades*. This generous, varied and dazzling project is brought to life by the versatility and brilliance of the Les Arts Florissants choir, which takes centre stage, alongside the orchestra conducted by Emmanuel Resche-Caserta.
