Fête Nationale du 14 Juillet

Due to the hot weather forecast for next Tuesday, the Town of Luçon has decided to adjust the evening’s programme, whilst retaining the festive spirit of 14 July. Here is the updated programme.

Official ceremony at 10.00 am
A ceremony commemorating the storming of the Bastille and the first Fête de la Fédération, held in the leafy setting of the Jardin Dumaine.


Evening event at the Jardin Dumaine from 7.00 pm
As a precaution, and to avoid exposing the public to a gathering in the heat of the day, the fireworks display has been postponed to a later date. However, to ensure the celebrations go ahead as planned, the entire evening’s programme has been moved to the Jardin Dumaine, where everyone can enjoy the coolness of this leafy setting.

The DJ set by SLV & MBS Productions is still going ahead and will get the garden buzzing from 7 pm until 1 am.

And because we couldn’t let this one pass us by, the World Cup semi-final will be shown on a big screen at 9 pm! Do come along in large numbers to watch this major sporting event from 9 pm to 11.15 pm (barring extra time) – on to the final!

As a special treat, the merry-go-round will stay open until 9 pm, much to the delight of the little ones. A refreshment bar, food truck and an ice-cream and sweets stall will be on site to round off the evening.

Despite the heat and this change to the programme, everything is in place for us to enjoy a fantastic 14 July together: a concert, the French team’s match, the merry-go-round, outdoor games… A wonderful evening in store!

A reminder of the times:

– Open to the public from 7 pm to 1 am;

– First part of the DJ set from 7 pm to 9 pm;

– Live broadcast of the World Cup semi-final on the big screen from 9 pm to 11.15 pm (unless extra time is played);

– DJ set and performance by singer Julie Riche during half-time;

– Second part of the DJ set and end of the evening from 11.15 pm to 1 am (unless extra time is played).

Refreshments, food trucks and an ice-cream and sweets stall will be available on site.
