The Climate and the Rhythm of the Seasons in Medieval Europe

Description

In medieval thought, water is both a symbol of pure love and of
deep-seated longings, an image of suffering (tears), but also an element
that can act as an obstacle or a means of redemption. Each song reveals a complex and
nuanced vision of earthly or divine love, which was often as fluid and difficult to
control as water itself. In this poetry, inspired by the troubadours,
trouvères and chanters of the 13th century, water is by turns a source of life,
an obstacle to be overcome or a mirror of human emotions…

Dominique METZLÉ (vocals, harp, flute and percussion), founder of
PANDORE and the sole performer on this occasion, holds the Diplôme
Supérieur de Musique Ancienne, awarded by the Conservatoire Supérieur de
Paris. He has specialised in the medieval repertoire under the guidance of Joël Cohen
(Boston Camerata), Andrea Von Ramm (Studio der Frühen Musik), Jordi Savall
(Hespérion XX) and Guy Robert (Ensemble Perceval), and performs regularly
at medieval music festivals.
