Sortie nature, découverte de la Pointe d’Arçay
Description
The Pointe d'Arçay, in the southern part of La Faute-sur-Mer, is a peninsula around 5 to 6 km long, running parallel to the coast. It is bordered on one side by the Lay and on the other by the Atlantic.
This ever-expanding sandy spit was formed during the 18ᵉ century by the accumulation of sand deposited by currents. It is largely covered by a forest of maritime pines.
Although closed to the public, you can discover its exceptional flora and fauna in July and August, during free guided tours organised by the Office national des forêts and the Office national de la chasse.
